VIDEO: Senor Kaos – “Til Your Dead” Directed By DVID Films

Recently Atlanta director Rick Foy (DVID Films) reached out too me about being interviewed and performing on his new program “The No Airplay Show.” I’ve known Rick for a few years now, and we’ve never gotten a chance to work, so when he reached out, I was more than happy to be apart of what he crafting. We linked one morning knocked out an interview and performance scene for the song “Til Your Dead” and the rest is explained below…

Til Your Dead is produced by NYC DJ, DJ Eleven (The Rub). Eleven is another person I’ve known for some years now. The Rub crew is some of the hardest working DJ’s I know. I have an immense amount of respect for Eleven, Cosmo Baker, and Ayres and what they’ve been doing for the past 5 years I’ve been paying attention.

Eleven reached out too me about a project he was working on. Up until he sent me this beat, I didn’t know he was working on tracks. Which is crazy, cause I think he knew me for years, and didn’t know that I rapped. HA. As soon as I heard this beat, I wanted to create something too it. The song was sampled from the “Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs” popular song “Heads Will Roll” aka Dance Till Your Dead. I loved the energy from the sample, as well as the classic drums from Schooly D’s PSK. I originally recored only the first verse to this and sent it back to Eleven. He liked and put it out via his site Eleven Inch Records. After listening to it for a while, I felt like it was missing something. So I decided to write and record a second verse to the song. The song is featured on my latest project “The Most Interesting MC In The World” which if you don’t have yet, I strongly suggest you add to your sound library.

Shaolin Jazz – The 37th Chamber

Inspired by Logan Walters redesign of Wu-Tang Clan album covers in the style of classic Blue Note Records album covers, Gerald Watson teamed up with his friend DJ 2-Tone Jones to create Shaolin Jazz – the 37th Chamber – a Wu-Tang-meets-jazz mixtape which matches vocals from the Shaolin members with sounds from classic jazz records. NPR has published an extensive article on the Wu-Tang Class/Jazz music symbiosis which you should not miss. Watch the visual summary of the project above…

Comedy: Nas “Funny Or Die” – Shawdows

In the past week, two big-time rappers have joined forces with Funny or Die to display their comical sides. In ‘Shadows with Nas’ Colton Dunn is looking for his iPhone charger while Nas creeps him out in his house with voices coming from dark corners of the room.

There’s also another spot with Drake. Spotted at Antenna Mag.

I want to see one of these with Chris Tucker.

Events: Red Bull Tum Tum Pa Hits GSU Tomorrow April 14

(April 1, 2011) – (Atlanta, GA) Calling all classroom percussionists, pencil clickers, and keyboard clackers – beside midterm exams, you finally have a good excuse to bust out that #2 pencil. The international creative rhythm competition Red Bull Tum Tum Pa, born in Brazil, is now expanding to the U.S. and will be going down in the Urban Life Auditorium at Georgia State University on April 14th. The contest pits college students against each other to see who can come up with the most creative beats using everyday classroom materials such as pens, pencils, rulers, notebooks and any other instrument without using traditional drums or digital sound.

The contest will pit teams of up to 4 “musicians” against one another, battling in two 60 second rounds. In the first round, “The Cover,” teams will perform a famous song of their choice. In the second round, “The Original Composition,” groups have to perform their own song and rock the house! Teams are judged on their rhythm, creativity and audience reaction. The winner from each campus will enter a video on YouTube of their performance that will be voted on by anyone and everyone in the online community. Top-rated videos will be submitted to a panel of judges who will choose five U.S. national finalists – these finalists will represent the homeland at the Red Bull Tum Tum Pa World Finals in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

…And you thought that T-9 calculator would never get you anywhere.

Registration to compete is now online at Advance registration is strongly encouraged to guarantee your spot in the competition. The event is free and open to spectators, so on April 14, 2011, come on down to the Urban Life Auditorium to see which “Panther” will have the most creativity and who can bust out the best beats.

Foot Fetish: Air Jordan 7 Bordeaux Dropping April 16th, 2011

The Jordan Sneaker Gods are in FULL effect in 2011. Blessing us earlier this year with the Cement Jordan 3′s in the O.G. box. Now the Jordan 7 Bordeaux which hasn’t been seen since it was originally released in 1992 is making it’s way back into the marketplace on April 16th, 2011.

The shoe is called the “Bordeaux” because of it’s dark wine coloring that makes up a big part of the tongue, back and sole of the shoe. If knowledge serves me correctly the only time MJ ever wore these shoes in an actual game was the 1992 All Star Game. I also remember when Jordan was wearing the Bordeaux’s in the “Jam” video with Michael Jackson.

Michael Jordan rocking the Jordan 7 Bordeaux’s at the 92 All Star Game.

You might recognize the Bordeaux’s from the original Air Jordan commercial featuring Bugs Bunny that everyone now knows as “Hare Jordan”. This was before Space Jam but it’s probably what helped create the idea and concept for the movie. It’s definitely one of my favorite commercials from back in the day.

Check out Jordans feet in Michael Jackson’s Jam video.

These are a MUST have. Don’t sleep.
