Fresh Produce: Nike Black History Month 2012 Collection

I just got a chance to check out some pieces from the Nike Black History Month 2012 collection. I’m not quite sure how long Nike has been releasing product in celebration of BHM, but the first item I remember noticing is the Red/Black/Green Air Force One Low from 2006 that was never sold and only given to key influencers/tastemakers within the African American community. Since then I’ve been keeping an eye out, and every year Nike releases some great product that always tells a great story as well.

This year, Nike Sportswear and Nike Basketball are releasing limited-edition footwear and apparel that celebrates the achievements and pioneering spirit of three teams: the 1996 USA Basketball Women’s team, 2002 Brazil Men’s Soccer team and the 2008 Kenyan Long-Distance Running team. All three leave a legacy of greatness and continue to inspire and uplift their communities.

The 2012 Black History Month collection includes the Nike Zoom KD IV, Nike Kobe VII System and LeBron 9 from Nike Basketball, as well as the Nike Air Force 1, Nike Air Max 1, Nike Blazer and 2012 Nike Huarache Free from Nike Sportswear. In addition to the shoes, select apparel styles—including the Nike Destroyer Jacket, T-shirt and snapback hat —will all release on Nikestore.com this Saturday, February 11.

Check out some pics of the new collection. Spotted at TSS.

Mixtape Mondays: Señor Kaos Featured On Mick Boogie’s “My Adidas” Mixtape, On DJ Jazzy Jeff Produced Track

Salute to DJ Mick Boogie. This past week he shot me a line and asked me if I wanted to involved with this new project he was putting out. It’s a Rum Dmc tribute mixtape to honor the 25th anniversary of the Run Dmc song “My Adidas” as well as the “Raising Hell” album. DJ Jazzy Jeff re-did the beat and cuts for “Peter Piper” and that was the track I was selected to be on. As usual Jazzy Jeff KILLS the beat and the cuts. It’s a honor for me to record something over one of his productions. Hopefully this won’t be the last time we work together.

MY-ADIDAS-mixtape.jpg

The mixtape is circulating around the net for free download. It was released on the same day as my new album 11/11/11. Also Adidas released a special Superstar 80 sneaker for JMJ. There’s only 1,986 pairs made to honor the year 1986. Hopefully all you sneaker heads got a pair.

Fresh Produce: Senor Kaos Stops By Unique Squared Office & Receives Flud Timepiece

The other day I made a stop by the Unique Squared office in Northwest Atlanta. Upon arriving I started to realize that I knew a LOT of people who worked in this office, without knowing they worked in the office. HA. Unique Squared employs a lot of my people. After taking a tour of the compound via the homie AJ, I linked up with Soul Wallace who blessed me with a gift. The gift was a brand new Flud “Big Ben” timepiece. I say timepiece, cause this joint is WAY fresher than a watch. With two interchangeable bands you can switch up the look based on the occasion. It also comes in a fresh case that reminds me of a turntable crate that DJ’s carry when moving equipment. Expect to see this on my wrist this summer, but I gotta be careful where I wear it in the words of M.O.P. “them jewels you rock, make em envy!” HA.

Fresh Produce: Frank 151 “F” Mets New Era

Check out the new “F” Mets New Era from Frank 151. And that’s “F” as in Frank Mets New Era not like “F the Mets” cause that would down right disrespectful and subject to a severe beat down.

Anyway, here’s the skinny…

F-Mets-New-Era_1.jpg

“Good role models are hard to come by, now more than ever. We had to travel back over two centuries to find someone who truly embodied the Frank151 spirit. As an inventor, publisher, diplomat and ‘man about town,’ Benjamin Franklin was the quintessential jack-of-all-trades, and the ideal spokesman for a company that has remained a pioneering force since its inception.

The Frank ‘F’ logo is minimal but powerful, paying homage to Ben Franklin the writer and printer. Set in a classic serif font, the logo could have been peeled directly from the pages of Poor Richard’s Almanack. The ‘F’ logo is often accompanied by a Franklin apothegm to live by: ‘If you would not be forgotten, As soon as you are dead and rotten, Either write things worth reading, Or do things worth the writing.’

Royal blue wool cap with orange 3D embroidered ‘F,’ tonal rear Frank151 logo, silver scripted quote on green under-visor.”

Video: Nike Air + Foot Locker + The Cool Kids = Get Fresh Air

Foot Locker has been stepping up their marketing game lately launching their own Blog site called Foot Locker Unlocked. It’s the #1 place to see what’s new or will be released in foot locker locations. Also keeps you up to date on special midnight launches, has a gaming section, and of course you can order product directly from the site, if you don’t feel like traveling to a Foot Locker.

F.L. has been pushing this “Get Fresh Air” campaign pretty heavy for the past few weeks. The campaign promotes several newly released Nike Air shoes and features athletes Amar’e Stoudemire, DeSean Jackson and Chris Bosh. To create some music for the movement, Foot Locker enlisted Chicago duo The Cool Kids to do what they do best… “Get Fresh.” Check it out.

Freedom For Your Feet: Nike Free Run 2

I posted this video on Facebook about a week ago, but never got a chance to post it on the Blog.

The Nike Free Run Plus was released in Spring 2010. The shoe was made in a ton of color-ways and became highly popular. Oprah even featured the shoe on her “Ultimate Favorite Things of 2010″ show.

The special thing about the Free Run is it’s designed to simulate barefoot running, so it has a very flexible and lightweight feel on the foot. “Freedom For Your Feet.”

Check out this video with Tony Bignel (Nike Running Footwear Global Director) speaking on all the cool features of the shoe.

The Nike Free Run Plus 2 will be available on April 1st. I can’t wait to see all the color-ways they come with for this shoe.

Enjoy Your Run.

The Shoe Game 4 Year Anniversary Party + Jordan XI Cool Grey Launch Party

This past Wednesday night one the most anticipated sneakers of this year was released. The Jordan XI aka the Cool Greys are what many sneakers heads have been waiting for all year. The Shoe Game patterned up with the Nike Store Lenox once again to celebrate their 4 year anniversary. This also became the official Jordan Cool Grey midnight launch event.

Hundreds of people, young, old, black, white, lined up (some got there as early as 4pm) for a chance to get their hands on the shoes which weren’t being sold until midnight. This not only happened in ATL but at sneaker spots all across the county. It was reported in the news that there were even small riots in places like Houston, Texas. Jordan, Cool Greys, etc. all became Trending Topics on the social media website Twitter. There was even SO much traffic on NikeStore.com around midnight that it caused the site to crash momentarily. WOW! No one sneaker should all that Power!

While sneaker heads waited to buy the shoes at midnight, The Shoe Game held raffles, DJ D-Cas keep the vibe festive, and sneaker heads, artists, managers, etc all got their network on. Shouts to G-Roc and Calvin from The Shoe Game not only on celebrating 4 Years, but being a positive force in the ATL sneaker community. Also shouts to DJ Greg Street, CyHi Da Prynce, Young Joc, and everybody else who came out. I posted a couple pics below, check out more at The Shoe Game.

After all these years, Michael Jordan and Nike STILL have sneaker heads going CRAZY around the word. Camping out for limited releases, trading at events like Dunk Exchange, etc., and not even to mention the Re-Sale game industry that has been created over the years via bay and the forums.

Fresh Produce: New Era Fitted Black History Month Edition

NE-NEFERTITS10_black_front.jpg

365 Black Fact: Greenwood is a neighborhood in Tulsa, Oklahoma. As one of the most successful and wealthiest African American communities in the United States during the early 20th Century, it was popularly known as America’s “Black Wall Street” until the Tulsa Race Riot of 1921. The riot was one of the most devastating race riots in history and it destroyed the once thriving Greenwood community. (Source)
