Burn Unit performing live at WNBA Halftime Game

On June 18th, 2008 The Burn Unit crew of B Boys and Girls shut it down at Halftime for the WNBA Atlanta Dream home game. For those of you who didn’t make it. Here’s an exclusive look at the show.

If I didn’t have these knobby knees I could do all that. LOL

Big shouts out to B Girl Severe. Not only will she shut your Up Rock game down, she’ll also send out a press release to let everyone know how wack you are!!!

From what I hear Burn Unit also has some exclusive video clips running on MARTA in Atlanta. I still dont get how the buses / trains don’t go anywhere but they have video screens in them, what part of the game is that???

Rocksteady Crew Celebrates 31 Years in the game

You can say what you want to about the Rocksteady Crew. But understand a lot of people wouldn’t be dancing right now if this crew hadn’t paved the way for B Boying threw media. Think about how many kids saw Style Wars and Wild Style and said “Ohhh I want to do that!” Many people accused RSC of selling out, or making B Boying mainstream. On the flip side would it have become the world-wide phenom that it did, had they not traveled the world and shared the art form. B Boying and Graffiti Art are becoming traditions that are being handed down to the youth less and less. Cant even tell you the last time I saw a shorty with a Black Book. Or how many people under 25 that even know what a windmill is.

Next week in New York City the Rocksteady Crew will be celebrating their 31st Anniversary!!! 1977 – 2008. 31 Years… I’ve been making a pilgrimage to NYC for the festival for the past 6 straight years. I really miss when the show was at the Pier in Manhattan and not in Jersey. But oh well.

31 years is definitely a long time to be at the fore front of something. People travel from all around the world every year to celebrate with RSC.

I’ll be present for this years festivities as usual. If your planning on being in New York during next weekend and are looking for something to do. Make sure you check out Rocksteady for more info.

As some people already know, a dance move called the moonwalk (a.k.a. backslide) had been existed before it became the “moonwalk”. The video features the ancient moonwalkers and other greats who possibly influenced MJ’s style of dancing.
