New Music: Señor Kaos Featured On “Executive Suite” Album. Releases Today

Today is January 10th which can only mean one thing! The “Executive Suite” album is here and available for FREE download.

A few months back I was reached out to by Kareem Fort to be interviewed for his DEMO’s documentary which is about independent artists. Afterwards I was approached about jumping on this record with Chaundon which was to be featured on the Demo’s movie soundtrack. Later on me and 4-Ize knocked out another record to be featured on “Executive Suite.” The original record “All Out” with Chaundon and Skinny C, never made the soundtrack and instead was used for this project. AND… that my friends is how I ended up on the “Executive Suite” project two times.

Just thought I’d share a lil story with you… But for real 2012 is getting off to a GREAT start, and this project is definitely one you shouldn’t sleep on. Stream or Download at DJBooth.com Today!

Executive Suite is available via The DJBooth with additional sponsorship from KevinNottingham and TheWellVersed. The compilation features production from long time collaborator Tony C (of Maseed Productions) and features the lyricism of Rapper Big Pooh, Donny Goines, Raven Sorvino, Senor Kaos, 4-Ize, Hawdwerk, and Punchline and more.

New Music: Black Star Celebrate Black Friday With New Music

Earlier this week I saw tweets from Talib Kweli about Black Star (Mos/Yaslin & Kweli) releasing new music on Black Friday. I later on learned that they would be releasing their latest single “Fix Up” produced by Madlib via iTunes.

That’s cool I thought… Then Black Friday actually came and I saw the buzz about another song entitled “You Already Knew,” produced by Madlibs little brother Oh No. Okay, okay… wasn’t expecting this one.

Black_Star-You_Already_Knew.jpg

GREAT to hear the two Brooklynites back at it. Word is “You Already Know” is the first single of the duo’s new project “Black Star Aretha” a tribute to Aretha Franklin. I hear some people reference it as a mixtape, other are saying it will the title of the new LP. Only time will tell. In the meantime stop by Black Star Hub, leave your email addy, and you download this new heat for free today.

Mixtape Mondays: Lacer Head Wear x Smokin Shells “Evolved Originality”

Check out Señor Kaos featured on this Lacer Head Wear x Smoking Shells mixtape.

Lacer Head Wear and Smokin Shells release their first collaboration today, Evolved Originality. The mixtape enlists the hosting talents of Phife from A Tribe Called Quest and is mixed by Smokin Shells’ own Dj Rasta Root. Lacer (www.lacerheadwear.com) is well known for its patented lace designs on their fitted and snap back caps. Smokin Shells (www.smokinshells.com) makes high polish dj turntable headshells. The cd is more of a compilation album than a conventional mix tape. Dj Rasta Root picked 12 (plus one bonus) tracks from artists close to their respective camps. Jersey’s Verb Spielberg has repped Lacer since day one. 4-Ize and Señor Kaos are a mainstay in the Atlanta music scene and have been down with Phife and Roots for years. Will Dudat is a young up and comer whose verbal compositions remind us of Andre 3000′s intricate wordplay. Phife makes a cameo alongside T3 from Slum Village on Rapper Big Pooh’s They Say (Remix). Phife also gives listeners a change to hear three incredible, new unreleased tracks from his upcoming solo album, Cheryl’s Big Son : The Anomoly. Dj Rasta Root does what he does best and blends each track seemlessly from start to finish.

Lacer commissioned none other than Don Rimx, world renowned graffiti artist, to create the cover and back artwork.

Download: DJ Jazzy Jeff Feat. Señor Kaos “Peter Piper” (Produced By DJ Jazzy Jeff)

I’ve been talking about this new joint I have featured on the new Mick Boogie “My Adidas” mixtape. Jazzy Jeff re-made Run Dmc’s classic “Peter Piper” to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the “Raising Hell” LP. I was a honor and a pleasure to get busy over this joint.

While I was writing this joint, I wanted to pay homage to the original Peter Piper (Which is my favorite Run Dmc song, next to Sucker Mc’s), but still wanted to update it and put my flavor on it. Originally I was just was going to re-write the verses and change a few lines here and there. But after listening to what Jazzy Jeff did with the beat and the cuts, I realized I had to come with something harder than that. Mick Boogie told me they needed this joint back ASAP, so BIG shouts to the homie Illastrate who came thru in the clutch and recorded the vocals for me.

Señor Kaos & DJ Jazzy Jeff = WOW!!! Honored to work with a true Hip Hop legend, God Willing this won’t be the only joint we work on in my career.

Mixtape Mondays: Señor Kaos Featured On Mick Boogie’s “My Adidas” Mixtape, On DJ Jazzy Jeff Produced Track

Salute to DJ Mick Boogie. This past week he shot me a line and asked me if I wanted to involved with this new project he was putting out. It’s a Rum Dmc tribute mixtape to honor the 25th anniversary of the Run Dmc song “My Adidas” as well as the “Raising Hell” album. DJ Jazzy Jeff re-did the beat and cuts for “Peter Piper” and that was the track I was selected to be on. As usual Jazzy Jeff KILLS the beat and the cuts. It’s a honor for me to record something over one of his productions. Hopefully this won’t be the last time we work together.

MY-ADIDAS-mixtape.jpg

The mixtape is circulating around the net for free download. It was released on the same day as my new album 11/11/11. Also Adidas released a special Superstar 80 sneaker for JMJ. There’s only 1,986 pairs made to honor the year 1986. Hopefully all you sneaker heads got a pair.

New Music: Jay Electronica Feat. Prodigy (Mobb Deep) – Call Of Duty: MW3

jay-electronica-call-of-duty-art.jpg

Chris Tucker Voice: Is this what you want? All I’ve seen to see on Twitter lately is “When is Jay Electronica going to release some new music?” or “Where is Jay Electronica.”

Just as I was about to shut it down for the evening and get some sleep, I spotted this joint on Facebook via Frolab. The record is labeled Jay Electronica Feat. Mobb Deep which is weird cause you only hear Prodigy on the record. I can only guess this joint is produced by Havoc. The song is called “Call Of Duty” MW3″ which also leads me to believe this is probably something featured on the Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 video game which will be released next month.

So while this might be enough to quiet some rumbling stomachs for now, the question still remains, “When are we going to see a Jay Electronica album?” I guess only time will tell.

Mixtape Monday: Chief Justice “Genesis – The New Beginning” Mixed & Hosted By DJ Evil Dee

The homie Chief Justice sent over his new project. Chief Jus has def been on his grind heavy lately, doing shows with Pharoahe Monch in nyc, linking up with DJ Evil Dee to host and mix his latest project, and enlisting legendary visual artist Fuse Green to lace the visuals for this joint. I suggest you check it out. Look for an appearance by Señor Kaos on Jus’ new album scheduled to drop sometime next year.

Chief Justice’s first solo mixtape, produced in large part by Chizzle Rose, Code Red & DJ Leks, is “Genesis: The New Beginning”, which is led off by the soulful single “Final Destination.” The video for that song was directed by Ian Wolfson (Rex Arrow Films), who is responsible for videos of Pete Rock, Mac Miller and many others. Another stand-out mixtape track is “Star-Gazin’.” The mixtape, hosted and mixed by DJ Evil Dee (Da Beatminerz, Black Moon/Duck Down Records), is a collective of original songs and freestyle verses over popular hip-hop instrumentals that showcases Justice’s diversity and the depth of his flow. Also featured on the mixtape are cameo vocal drops from nationally respected DJ’s and well-known entertainers such as Michael K. Williams of HBO’s “The Wire”, as well as guest appearances from rappers 4-Ize, Mike Millz and more.
