All my peoples from Chicago know exactly what time it is. Garretts Popcorn Shop is a staple in the windy city. They make the BEST popcorn EVER. You gotta get the Cheese x Caramel corn mix otherwise known as “The Mix.”
If you’ve been following the Blog for a while then you know everytime I hit Chicago this is a top priority on my to do list. Well… recently I had been hearing from a few people in Chicago that Garrett’s was opening up a shop in New York City.
In the Chi, people line up for popcorn. I’ve seen lines around lunch time that stretched a whole block long downtown.
After doing a lil investigating, I found Garrett’s had opened up 3 popcorn shops in Manhattan in 2007. So you know while I was in town I had to go in right!!! Check the pics…
MY POPCORN!!!! I got some popcorn, you can’t afford it, cause you on welfare!!! LOL
You have to watch your back when you have Garrett’s. I think my mother was trying to rob me when she found out I had the mix. It’s that serious!!! For those who think I’m exaggerating. Check out what Halle Berry thinks about Garrett’s.
Halle Berry will marry a can of Garrett’s Popcorn before she marries another brotha. I’m about to figure out how to make some Caramel corn cologne! LOL
Now I can get Garrett’s in Nueva York, I cant say when I’ll be traveling back to Chicago. All I need now is a Giordono’s, Harold’s Chicken and some Jay’s potato chips.

So on Thursday I touched down in Illadelph for the weekend to do some work

After I arrived I linked with my homie Dj Phillie Blunt. My first stop was South Street for Ishkabibble’s. Ish is one of the only spots that you can get Chicken Phillies in the city. The old school spots are all beef.
Cheese Fries are the thing in Philly! Hmmm….
Later that night I went to this spot called Letage where Philly Blunt was spinning. The spot is kinda low key, but fly. I liked it.

Phil introduced me to these ladies who were all cousins. Shout out to Don who I didn’t get a picture off.
After Letage I went over to Silk City to meet the homie Tayyib. This was def the Hipster spot. This is what it looked like when the DJ dropped that MIA record! The place was packed and dumb hot. The Hipsters in Philly def party hard!
The next morning I had breakfast at Sabrinas. Hmmm….
I caught this on a Cab on Spring Garden Street. I like the slogan.
Apparently theres a Django in Philly too.
Friday Night Me, Semp, and Parable hit up M Room for the Monthly Body Rock Party. The party is run by the Illvibe Crew which consists of Dj Panik, Phillie Blunt, Lil Dave, and Dj Static. They’ve been doing this party for 8 years in Philly now. It goes down every last Friday of the month. If your ever in Philly check it out.

Couldn’t leave Philly without getting by Genos / Pats. Genos was in the news Heavy last year for refusing to serve customers who didn’t speak English. Let me say these two things. A. Genos is in a Heavy Latino neighborhood and B. You dont need to speak to English to order food there. They only serve two things: Cheesesteaks and Cheese Fries. You can point and order that. Lol. Anyway… I was telling Parable I’ll always remember Genos from being in the Boyz 2 Men Video “Motown Philly”

Now let me say this, Genos be on some other shit. They have a big memorial up that has the police officer that was allegedly murdered by Mumia Abu Jamal, then they have nerve to have this book posted. Booo.. Thats another story that we could talk about days, for those who dont know. Google “Mumia Abu Jamal” and see what you find.
I took it over to Pats which is right across the street and got it in over there. Both of the spots are super Old School and they dont take Credit Cards to this day!

While walking down South Street we say this dude on a ladder with a projector, so we stopped to see what he was up too. Turned out it was Philly Graf Legend Pose 2. We chopped up with dude for a min. He was working on a Advertisement for Pabst Blue Ribbon. He was just getting started on the Sketch when we saw him. Would like to be around to see how it turns out.
Nothing like hitting Ritas for the fresh Custard or Italian Icees! This is a east coast / Upnorth Staple. Try to have one whenever Im in the area. I suggest you do the same.
According to the movie “The Secret” what you put into the Universe will come to you the “Law of Attraction” and all that good stuff. Well I put out to the Universe as well as everybody in Chicago that I need some Garretts Popcorn in my life… and look what arrives in the mail?
Shout out to my homie CL (One Life Ent) for sending this down south! I really appreciate it. Garretts has to be the best popcorn I’ve ever had in my life I prefer the (Cheese / Caramel) Mix! Oh… and if your wondering.. Its all gone! Hmmmm…
