Common “Destiny” Freestyle at One Music Fest in ATL: Video

Last weekend in the ATL the One Music Fest brought us Hip Hop Legends De La Soul and Common on the same stage. One Music Fest for One Night Only.

De La and Common both KILLED it as usual. One of the highlights of the evening for me was watching Common get busy on this 5 minute freestyle. He picked one girl out of the audience. I couldn’t hear if he asked her name or if he just asked her to give him a topic to freestyle about. Either way the topic ended up being “Destiny.” Com Sense went on the topic, let the crowd know how he used to run thru ATL back in the day, got freaky for the ladies, and brought it back on topic for the ending.

It truly takes sheer skill to be able to freestyle in front of crowd of thousands, staying on point the whole time, and keeping the crowd entertained. Kids take notes, this is what REAL emcees do.

Truly Classic!

From the video you miss the beginning, but hey, guess sometimes you just have to be there! Shouts to Solokee for the footage.

Events: Red Bull Emsee Atlanta August 17th

If you remember last year in ATL Red Bull put on the first ever EMSEE event in the city at the Masquerade.

The concept is Emcee’s using their skill to freestyle while incorporating random images that their given before each round. This is no easy task. It’s one thing to be nice at Freestyling, it’s a whole nother thing to have to incorporate random, sometimes funny, sometimes odd images into your flow.

Manchild (Mars Ill) was there ATL winner from last year. There was also a special guest performance by Talib Kweli. The place was at capacity early! If you remember that, then you don’t want to miss this.

Red Bull Emsee is coming back around. This time on August 17th, 2010 at the Masquerade. Same bat place, same bat channel. Oh but wait… This go round Bun B will be rocking.

Also last year Red Bull invited me out to demonstrate to the audience how things were going to work for the evening. Here’s a lil video clip from my performance.

This event is FREE with RSVP at www.redbullusa.com/atlanta-emsee

Don’t wait to the last minute to RSVP. And remember where you heard about this first.

TKE Exclusive: Rozzi Daime ATL Performance Pics + Video

I know I’m DUMB late with posting this, but when you got exclusives you can sit back for a while. HA.

Here are some pics I snapped of Rozzi Daime during her ATL performance at Lenny’s in Atlanta on June 4th. She got on stage at like 2:30am and shut the club down till it closed! SA-RA Familia was in the house to let the ATL know that when Rozzi Daime comes thru, it’s a So Special affair.

I had known Rozzi pretty well, up to this point, but had never gotten a chance to see her perform. If I wasn’t a fan already, I was definitely one after that night.

Video: Reflection Eternal (Talib Kweli + Hi Tek) ATL Footage

Just a lil footage from the Reflection Eternal show last night at the Loft in ATL. The place was packed. It was about 90 degrees outside and 120 inside the building. No lie people were passing out from the heat, it was crazy. Welcome to these Georgia summers.

I performed on the show, and set things off with Dj Grandman and Flux Wonda. Rozzi Daime, 4-Ize and Boog Brown joined a brotha on stage and cats rocked it. Footage coming soon.

Here’s a lil footage of Kweli and Hi Tek getting busy. Watching Kweli perform definitely is a reminder for his extensive catalog. From Black Star, to the early Reflection Eternal joints, to his solo joints, dude has a nice catalog of joints that jam.

Shout out to Pinky @ the Merch table.
