If you have not been to a “3 on 3rd” yet…this is Certainly the one to be at. On Thursday, I am celebrating my Birthday and this Fantastic Year with a bunch of the most talented Individuals in Atlanta. So, I personally invite ALL OF YOU to our Holiday Jam w/a special party for all of my fellow Sadges. Come FLY because we record all of the 3 on 3rd shows and make sure you let your people know that they can listen to the live stream at www.ApacheCafe.com during show hours.

So Monday Senor & I got a chance to get out to the New Era Flagship store for a shin dig honoring NBA rookie OJ Mayo. They projecting dude to get the coveted Rookie of the Year award. Konsole Kingz was in the building with two gaming suites. 255 Tapas Lounge was on hand serving hors d’oeuvres that included wings & crabcake sandwiches. A who’s who of tastemakers were on hand as well. Check out the pics under the hood…
I’m playing catch up with all my late posts. This is from the J Dilla vs Prince Fundraiser for Ma Yancey (that Uncle Herm was not involved in? SMH?) @ Sugarhill last month. There was a lot of talk surrounding the event, mainly where would the money end up because all of our contacts said Ma Yancey (J Dilla’s Mom) didn’t know anything about this. It was packed beyond belief in Sugarhill for this jawn. Check my pics after the jump…
As I continue to play catch up with all these photos, I bring you some pics from Spread Love @ CENCI a couple of Fridays ago. (Yes I am aware Senor made a post already, but it ain’t a ZOO Chronicle)
The ROYAL COUPLE – DJ Kemit & Aishah (you did ya thing Ma!)
Last night at Cenci was CRAZY for the November installment of “Spread Love.” This month was the “Bring Back 88″ Edition.
1988 what a year for Hip Hop, hell music period! Lot of classics dropped that year. LL, Biz Markie, EPMD, Big Daddy Kane, MC Lyte, Jungle Brothers, Kid N Play, Eric B and Rakim, Boogie Down Productions (KRS ONE), Public Enemy and more! Wow… think about that, what classics came out in 2008?
Music was provided by some of ATL’s finest: Dj Kemit, and Dj Doc hosted by Jamal Ahmed with special guests: Talib Shabazz, Jasz (Earwax), Professor Griff (Public Enemy), and Randall Moore (Weekend Wrecking Crew Founder 88.5 FM). OH.. Also shout out to Hebrew was in town and came threw.
The place was full of Ghetto Celebs: Sol Messiah, Coach K, Ekundayo, B Girl Severe (Burn Unit), B Boy Quic and The Funk Lordz, Frank White (Lael), Steve Deniro, it was a beautiful evening.
The joint was jamming. Rita J and I both performed. Here’s a couple pics.
Señor Kaos (B Boy Stance) w/ Talib Shabazz (Earwax) + Jason Orr (Funk Jazz Kafe)
King Robot came threw with the Cassette Deck with the Turntable that pops out underneath! Wowsers!!!
WOOOOOW!!! Talib’s Album 88 – Rhythm And Vibes Denim Jacket. Lets just say Talib has expanded a lil bit since 88, so that jacket was a lil young.
L to R: Talib Shabazz, Jamal Ahmed (Getting His Just Ice On) and Randall Moore letting everybody know “Swagger Is Nothing, Talent Is Everything.”
MAKE SURE YOU STAY TUNED TO SPREAD LOVE FOR DOWNLOADS, AND EXCLUSIVE VIDEO FOOTAGE FROM THIS EVENT.
This past Friday night November 14th I was in NYC and got a chance to witness History. (Thanks to Tamir and Sucio Smash). The celebration at hand was from Big Daddy Kane’s 20th Anniversary Concert @ BB Kings in the heart of Times Square New York City.
This show was the talk of the town since I arrived on Wed. Before the show I went to catch up with my homegirl, former ATLien Destiny. We had a slice and rapped a taste. Flux kept hitting me saying, “yo the line is CRAZY, you better get here quick!”
So after dinner I trooped up to Forty Deuce (Times Square) to see what was going on. I got in the door just in time as the place was just hitting capacity! Now the flyer did say the show started at 9pm prompt, so I knew by showing up at 10pm that there was a chance that I could missing something. And boy was my gut feeling right. I missed surprise performances from the Beatnuts and Positive (Step Up Front) K.
But no worries. When I got inside and got settled to the left of the stage, Biz Markie was getting into his Dj set, getting the crowd warmed up. Then outta no where Biz went from the turntables to in front of the mic as he ripped threw, Make The Music, Nobody Beats The Biz, Just A Friend, Pickin Boogers, and 2 more joints. Suddenly It dawned on me, although I was FAR away from the stage, I did have my camera on me. So I caught what I could. It’s not the bes quality (like I said I was pretty FAR from the stage) but It’s something to check especially if you weren’t there.
So after Biz’s set J Period jumps on, Dj Mr. Cee comes out soon after, followed by what we had all been waiting for: BIG DADDY KANE!!!
From the jump Kane ripped the stage as usual doing Set It Off, Warm It Up Kane, I Get The Job Done, Raw, Wrath Of Kane, Smooth Operator, etc. I think I almost wet my pants in excitement when Scoob Lova and Scrap Lova came out on stage, and KILLED it with Kane.
Maaaaaaan, this was a show not to miss. I was so into the show, I didn’t notice to later who was in the house: Roxanne Shontae walked right passed me and gave me a hug, Kangol (UTFO), Ice T and Coco, Lord Finesse, Busta Rhymes, Dj Cipha Sounds, Marley Marl, Billy Danze (M.O.P.), The Awesome 2 – Special K and Teddy Ted, Poisen Pen, D Stroy, Pumpkinhead, Swel Boogie, Mazzi, were just some of the NYC Ghetto Celebs who were in the place.
OH… And the night ended with a live version the Symphony with Kane, Masta Ace, Craig G, and Marley Marl DESTROYING the stage. (NO G Rap though).
All in All GREAT Night. I came out the venue sweating from dancing so hard. The only thing missing was Jay Z (Whom Kane helped put on might I add).
I’m so lame for not posting this sooner. I totally forgot I was sitting on these pics. For our readers that get it in with TKE.com at our events on the regular we appreciate the love. Now whussup with the rest of y’all huh? This was a FREE event that took place the night of the BET Hip Hop Awards. If you’ve ever experienced Funk Jazz Kafe then this was similiar with more room, more vendors, more music. I was very impressed. Jason Orr produced a spectacular event that celebrated the 40 year anniversary for one of Atlanta’s most respected institutions, the Woodruff Art Center. It made me appreciate my culture and heritage more. Just knowing that the artistic expression we are naturally endowed with is rich, talented and diverse is awe inspiring.
