So some homies of mine, Ryan and Mike Moore put me on to VBS.TV – I cant really tell you what exactly the site is suppose to be about. Its just a bunch of weird videos – Nice layout though. I believe it was created by Vice magazine, but dont quote me.
So anyway I stumbled across this series of videos called “Toxic Brooklyn” and I immediately found it very interesting, especially since Brooklyn is home for me. Its speaks on how back in the day there were a lot of factories and warehouses in the areas of Williamsburg and Greenpoint, that were putting out toxic gasses into the air, and there was even a huge oil spill from the the Exxon plant thats in the area, that spilled mad oil into a nearby creek which runs from the East River.
If you’ve ever been to those neighborhoods now, you would know its super gentrified and has turned into Hipsterville. All the factories have been tore down or gutted and turned into Lofts, and there’s a lot of million dollar condos in the area.
What people dont know… is there paying top dollar to live in one of the most toxic neighborhoods in the country. Damn…
Heres a video for you to check out. The series is actually broken up into 7 parts. This is part 5 of 7, you’ll get the jist though.
