Aug 13th – 15th marked the first annual Nike World Basketball Festival in NYC. I didn’t get a chance to make it to NYC for the festivities, but I heard the city was on fire. The Rucker, MSG, Niketown, Atmos, etc. all had special events going on during the week.
Check out this video piece shot by Ola Kudu at Rucker Park during WBF.
Atlanta Hawks own Josh Smith and former Hawk now TV analyst Steve Smith took over Champs Sports in Lenox Mall for NBA Shop event on March 29th.
Sporting Champs shirts with their own name tags, Josh and Smitty hung out with fans, took pics, and even ran the register for a minute. This was the day before the Hawks would play the Lakers at Philips Arena. I told Josh Smith when I seen him that day to let the Lakers know wussup. … And he did.
The next night at the Highlight Factory (Philips Arena) The Hawks defeated the Lakers 98-95. J-Smoov had 17 points, nine rebounds, nine assists and five blocks!
Champs has some cool Hawks gear on deck if your looking for it.

“Oscilloscope Laboratories presents director Adam Yauch’s document of eight of the country’s premiere high school basketball players on the fast track to the NBA.”
Senor and I have both talked about checking this out/ copping this video as we are both huge basketball/ streetball fans. And now HULU has it available for viewing on their site?
I’ve watched all these NBA Sprite Slam Dunk Contest commercials waiting to see who was gonna represent this year. Well the names were finally released and its pretty boring. We have Gerald Wallace, Shannon Brown and Nate Robinson AGAIN. This year the NBA has decided to have an All Star Dunk In between Demar Derozan and Eric Gordan. CMON SON. This is not popping. The All Star Weekend is about the fans so put some star power in here! Lebron James was faking jax popping all that talk about entering the contest but didn’t do nada. You compare James to Michael Jordan but really there is none. Look at the past winners. MJ took the title and defended without question.

It seems every new year we get a story right off the bat that makes you just drop your head and say DAMN! Well you knew it was coming. Agent Zero will be missing in acton for some time. Gilbert Arenas was suspended indefintely without pay on his 28 borndate at that for possession of firearms.
David Stern dismissed the Agent with this statement:
“The possession of firearms by an NBA player in an NBA arena is a matter of the utmost concern to us. I initially thought it prudent to refrain from taking immediate action because of the pendency of a criminal investigation involving the office of the United States Attorney for the District of Columbia and the Metropolitan Police Department, and the consideration of this matter by a grand jury sitting in the District of Columbia. For the same reason, I directed the Wizards to refrain from taking any action.
“Wizards personnel continue to be interviewed by law enforcement authorities, some are scheduled for appearance before the grand jury and the investigation is proceeding with the intensity that one would expect for such a serious incident.
“Although it is clear that the actions of Mr. Arenas will ultimately result in a substantial suspension, and perhaps worse, his ongoing conduct has led me to conclude that he is not currently fit to take the court in an NBA game. Accordingly, I am suspending Mr. Arenas indefinitely, without pay, effective immediately pending the completion of the investigation by the NBA.”
Congrats Gilbert. You have the Fail of the Year already!
Let it be known I’m a full time New York Knick Fan. It hasn’t been a good look to admit that in over a decade but indeed I am. With every game the management shows more idiotic movements. Against the Atlanta Hawks Friday night D’Antoni decided to throw the lil big man Nate Robinson in the game finally after a 14 game hiatus. He channeled his enter Dhaslim and “Yoga Flamed” the Hawks! The brother shot 18-24, 41 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assist!! Please note that the Hawks are one of the best defensive teams in the league this year. Understand this is what the game is about. Showing and Proving your ability anytime the light is put on ya.
Nate rob was stylin on the Hawks and Knicks staff Friday night!
You may not know who Tiny Gallon is. Possibly a cousin of Big Reczilla even. Well he will forever be known no matter if he makes it to the NBA or not for this.
So I decided to do something a lil different for Flashback Friday’s. We typically do hip hop videos but with today being Jan 1st you know that most sports fanatics (including me) are holed up watching college football all day! So because I put on for my city it’s only fair to give you a college football game that was one for the BIG TEN record books!
