 This post is totally off the cuff so bear with me. After reading a post from my man MG & especially after the spirited discussion I had with Inori @ Creative Control Saturday (which I ALWAYS enjoy) I wanted to share my heart regarding this matter preachers and these Mega Churches. I don’t even know where to begin but I’ll begin with the pic you see above. I came across TD Jakes when I first moved to Atlanta and he was still in West Virginia getting it in. My best friend’s college roommate turned me on to his broadcasts. A little too Pentecostal for me (I don’t like all that screaming and hollering, I like teaching that is simple and easy to understand. Hence my church affiliation), but here was something dynamic and charismatic about him initially.

TD Jakes has an interesting effect on people. Some point to his ability to speak eloquently to the hurting hearts of people. I honestly believe there are many who have experienced deliverance and spiritual encounters of the GOd kind as a result of his teachings. Some refer to his bank account and his  insistent promotion of his books and other teaching material as pointed out in MG’s post. Here are my thoughts regarding that. The scripture tells us that for everything there is an appointed time and season. So, if the only constant element in the universe is change then “Get ready, get ready, get ready, get get get…” We are no longer at Grandma’s church service any more. That means if you pull up to church grounds and there’s a street team promoting the  guest speaker and he has prouct available for sale in the lobby for the low low and it’s cool with that congregation then that’s what it is! ( I don’t necessarily agree with it but hey) Now is that a “turn the money changers table in the temple” situation? That’s a question that the Sheperd of that flock has to be accountable for. But because we don’t agree with or understand certain things there is the tendecy to criticize it based on what we know from our experience or how we think it should go. WEIGH EVERYTHING BY THE WORD 

Wow, what can I say about the above pic that hasn’t already been said? THE ONLY THING PEOPLE TEND TO ASSOCIATE THIS MAN IS $$$!!! I often find it amazing that NOTHING else the man has taught in over 20 years of ministry gets as much attention as his BIBLICALLY SOUND preaching on finance. I say bibically sound because everytime you hear dude preach on ANYTHING there is always a text in hand, unless he expresses to his congregation that he is speaking from his heart like a fireside chat and that (to my knowledge) has never taken place on a Sunday. Now we harp on what he does with his money, why he preaches on money and where does his money come from. Have any one of those same critics took the time to “do the knowledge” and see if the teaching is true?

Don’t get it twisted I am not defending any one. These are grown men quite capable of defending their own honor. However, I do take exception with people’s perspective. We have a problem with black preachers who are seemingly getting to big and becoming the equivalent of rock stars or rappers with their homes and cars (ever ask one of those preachers how many homes or cars have they given away to people in need?) We never question the wealth of the vatican or the opulence of Farrakhan (yes Farrakhan got bread and you best believe FOI ain’t eating all that good from Final Call  & bean pie sales) 

The pastor in the above pic I like a lot. I know his son personally (very transparent dude) plus Bishop got them Hulk Hogan guns that’ll lay you flat in a heartbeat. Not sure what the gripe is with Bishop. If he pushes a Maybach so what! NEWBIRTH does a lot in the Lithonia community!!!! Plus who are we to say these pastors can’t be business men as well. If you think the original twelve didn’t have professions that allowed them to follow Jesus for three years while their families were cared for you are sadly mistaken. Do the knowledge. We like painting scriptures with a broad stroke that Jesus was broke the disciples were broke and preachers should just use what they need and everything else goes to the House of God. Sounds noble but is it scripture?

Ok I’m off my soapbox, cuz I need to go study for the barrage of comments y’all about to hit me with.

Oh yeah for those that have known me for the past year, I’ve been off my square but I’m gettting back to square biz so expect dialogue like this more frequently…

This happened about 3 days ago in downtown Montreal, Canada. 2 young white boys were hurling racist insults at a group of black people. Now you know whats gonna happen to you when you say racist shit. Just watch the video and find out.

Aside from the occasional brick chuckin.. im a fairly non-violent and peaceful person.. I’m a firm believer in KARMA.. If you do dumb shit.. you will suffer the repercussions sooner or later. It just so happens their karma came back immediately on that ass!! I have no sympathy for those dudes..

One thing for damn sure.. those dudes will think twice before saying some racist shit.. and they will never look at timbs the same again!!

Welcome to “Step Ya Game Up ” Volume 1!!

1) First off let me start off by saying…step your laptop game up. For those who have seen my laptop(unfortunately), they know ive been waaaaay overdue for a new one. Aside from that joint being a fire hazard and barely operable…it looked just as bad..dont believe it? Take a look for yourself!

Damn shame aint it! Lol the hints for me to step my laptop game up probably came when I had to resort to using duct tape to hold it together…yes…duct tape.

So how did I decide to step it up? The best way possible..with a macbook pro!! Ive finally made the transition between Apple and Microsoft! And now that you can also run windows on mac..its really the smartest choice I could have made. The PC got me through college..but like the saying goes.
