First Listen: Stream The Roots’ New Album “Undun” Today

On December 6th The Legendary Roots Crew release their 10th studio album entitled “Undun” via Def Jam. As a treat, you can stream the whole album today via NPR. After one full listen, I can say The Roots still have that organix sound that leaves you wanting more. Things are not showing any signs of falling apart for the crew who have mastered the game theory of releasing LP’s. This new album could be a tipping point for the crew as they come live with fresh sounds for the brains phrenology. Releasing albums consistently since the mid 90′s it seems as if I’ve been rocking with Illadelf’s finest for half my life.

Salute to The Roots for achieving success over all these years while still making music on their own terms and testing the bounds of their creativity.

New Music: Señor Kaos Featuring J-Live & Flux “Restless” Produced By Illastrate

Restless Featuring J-Live and Flux (Binkis Recs) leaked to the net this past Friday 11.11.11 the same day my album dropped. It is featured on my “The Kaos Effect” LP and has been getting a great response since it hit this net this past weekend.

The song is about being an independent artist constantly proving yourself, paying dues. My dues have been paid, I’ve been blessed to work with some Hip Hop legends like Phife, DJ Spinna, Large Professor, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Punchline, etc. who all believe in what I have to say. I feel like it’s time for the Hip Hop world and gatekeepers to stop sleeping and WAKE UP! This song is also dedicated to all the people in the world who work super hard and lose sleep chasing your dreams. Check it out, I hope everybody enjoys it. If you like this joint, make sure you check out the whole album “The Kaos Effect.”

New Music: 4-Ize “Her Girl” (Produced By 9th Wonder)

4-Ize’s new single for the song “Her Girl” leaked on the internet a few weeks back, but now it has been OFFICIALLY been released and it’s ready for all the fans to purchase. If you haven’t heard it yet, this record is CRAZY!!! I was blessed to sit in on this studio session with 4-Ize, 9th Wonder, and E Jones. I watched 9th make this beat as well as several other joints that day from scratch. When it was finished 4-ize went in on the verses (as he always does). While he was doing that I crafted something for the hook, based off what I heard in the sample. The final result is SMASHING!!!

Shouts to Eric Nine with the fresh artwork.

Here’s the behind the scenes footage of the studio session. I was running the camera for this joint, and my camera skills suck, hence why the footage is so dark. Shouts to my homie Jean Tanis who edited this joint up.

Download: DJ Jazzy Jeff Feat. Señor Kaos “Peter Piper” (Produced By DJ Jazzy Jeff)

I’ve been talking about this new joint I have featured on the new Mick Boogie “My Adidas” mixtape. Jazzy Jeff re-made Run Dmc’s classic “Peter Piper” to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the “Raising Hell” LP. I was a honor and a pleasure to get busy over this joint.

While I was writing this joint, I wanted to pay homage to the original Peter Piper (Which is my favorite Run Dmc song, next to Sucker Mc’s), but still wanted to update it and put my flavor on it. Originally I was just was going to re-write the verses and change a few lines here and there. But after listening to what Jazzy Jeff did with the beat and the cuts, I realized I had to come with something harder than that. Mick Boogie told me they needed this joint back ASAP, so BIG shouts to the homie Illastrate who came thru in the clutch and recorded the vocals for me.

Señor Kaos & DJ Jazzy Jeff = WOW!!! Honored to work with a true Hip Hop legend, God Willing this won’t be the only joint we work on in my career.

Mixtape Mondays: Señor Kaos Featured On Mick Boogie’s “My Adidas” Mixtape, On DJ Jazzy Jeff Produced Track

Salute to DJ Mick Boogie. This past week he shot me a line and asked me if I wanted to involved with this new project he was putting out. It’s a Rum Dmc tribute mixtape to honor the 25th anniversary of the Run Dmc song “My Adidas” as well as the “Raising Hell” album. DJ Jazzy Jeff re-did the beat and cuts for “Peter Piper” and that was the track I was selected to be on. As usual Jazzy Jeff KILLS the beat and the cuts. It’s a honor for me to record something over one of his productions. Hopefully this won’t be the last time we work together.

The mixtape is circulating around the net for free download. It was released on the same day as my new album 11/11/11. Also Adidas released a special Superstar 80 sneaker for JMJ. There’s only 1,986 pairs made to honor the year 1986. Hopefully all you sneaker heads got a pair.

Video: Mad Skillz Reveals His Plan To Release One Last LP & Retire Via WM40A

On Friday afternoon I was doing an interview out front of A3C when out the corner of my eye I spot non other than Mad Skillz. He was posted up for a few mins, as various people came by and shook his hand. By the time I finished my interview he was gone, so I didn’t get a chance to chop it up with the brotha. I found out later that he was in town for a Red Bull event at Gold Room with DJ Jazzy Jeff. I even hear Jeff was spotted walking around A3C, I never saw him.

The homie Phenom Blak from Wheres My 40 Acres caught up with Skillz where he talked about the future of Skillz, the next projects he’s releasing as well as a possible retirement from recording music.

Skillz drops several jewels in this interview one of my favorites: “It’s easy to get a record deal, it’s hard to get your album out on a tuesday.” He also speaks on the importance of building and maintaining relationships. Give it a look below.
