Madden 2009 Drops Tomorrow!: Video Games

August 12th marks a milestone in Video Game History. It’s the 20th anniversary of EA Sports Madden NFL Football game. Over the years Madden has done a great job of cultivating a cult following, making it one the highest revenue-generating video game series in North American video gaming history.

The game wont be officially released until tomorrow, but of course you know The Kaos Effect got an exclusive advance copy to share with a select with few VIP influencers.

This past week the big talk in the sports world was Bret Favre. Everyone was trying to figure out if he was going to stay with Green Bay and take that 20 million to sit on the bench, or if he was going to get traded. This news was especially crucial to EA as Favre appears as the athlete on the cover of Madden 09.

In the end Favre was traded to the NY Jets, and the cover of Madden won’t be changed. However you will be able to download a new cover with BF in a Jets jersey, printout the sleeve, and replace the old sleeve. You can also play with Favre the Packers or the Jets. You have the option to trade him to the Jets.

Check out Bret Favre’s new uniform.

Grand Theft Auto IV Drops Today!!!

gtaiv_logo.jpg

Inori already called me and said he was headed to get his copy earlier. For those that dont know the new Grand Theft Auto (GTA) drops today. I heard people started lining up late last night.

Check the Trailer to see what the hype is about

The game follows Niko Bellic, an Eastern European who comes to the United States in search of the “American Dream”, only to find his cousin has lied about the promised wealth and luxury that would be awaiting him.

Sounds like Scarface too me! The setting for the game is called “Liberty City” but it’s really New York City as you can tell.

If you got GTA4 let us know you think. There expecting this title to set video game records. We’ll see soon.

What Would You Do?…

Ryuta Kawashima (AFP)/ Brain Age (Y! Games)

Ryuta Kawashima, the researcher behind Nintendo’s Brain Age series of games for the DS portable system, would rather be working than enjoying $11 million in royalties he could have earned from his creations.

“Not a single yen has gone in my pocket,” Dr. Kawashima told the AFP in a recent interview. Kawashima, whose likeness was heavily featured in the best-selling Brain Age games, is instantly recognizable to almost 12 million gamers worldwide.

Under the terms of his agreement with his employer, Tohoku University in Japan’s north-east region, Kawashima was entitled to accept half the Brain Age royalties personally. Instead, he used the proceeds to help fund $6.5 million in construction projects on Tohoku’s campus.

“My hobby is work,” he said. “Everyone in my family is mad at me but I tell them that if they want money, go out and earn it.”

Kawashima, who strictly monitors his teenage sons’ gaming time, is currently working on a four-year project to study brain development in children. He’s also cooperating with Toyota to develop a car designed to keep elderly drivers alert.  (source)

Skate or Die!!!!

Yezure lets step into the time machine real quick. Electronic Arts created the video game “Skate or Die” in 1987 for various consoles such as the Commodore 64, Atari ST, and later on the Nintendo. Something to feed the youth while staying out the street. Throw the game on the Joust and watch you eat my shorts! The kid was a beast on the Freestyle Ramp! See about me! Oh…I’m sorry I blacked out real quick.

Well Nike, always inspired but the untamed youth in us, has brought the Nike “Skate or Die” Dunk. The colors and patterns are straight from the cover of the video game.

Skate or Die!!!!

These should be on deck at all your local skate shops the first week of February. Step up and throw it back!
