Common At The White House, Fox News Is Terrible + Thank You John Stewart

So about a week ago Fox News was going CRAZY about Chicago emcee Common being invited to the White House to perform for an event. According to Fox Common is controversial, supports the killing of law enforcement officials, and symbolizes everybody BAD about this country. FA REAL FOX??? It’s not surprising, Fox News has been known to be on some silly business for the past few years, even inspiring Nas to write the song “Sly Fox” about their terrible reporting back in 2008.

Anywho.. when I heard about it, I thought it was foolishness on Fox’s end, and congrats to Common on being invited to the White House. Com Sense is a not only a super talented emcee but also a very positive force in the Hip Hop community. I could see if Gucci Mane was invited to the White House, that would be a different story.

So I found it very refreshing when John Stewart spoke out on Common’s behalf. Stewart sat with Bill O’Reilly and expressed that if Common can’t go to the White House than neither can Bono (U2) or Bob Dylan who have used their artistry to touch on controversial subjects. Thank You John! …And I’m going to leave it at that, check the video footage below.

Sports: No More “Arenas”

It seems every new year we get a story right off the bat that makes you just drop your head and say DAMN! Well you knew it was coming. Agent Zero will be missing in acton for some time. Gilbert Arenas was suspended indefintely without pay on his 28 borndate at that for possession of firearms.

David Stern dismissed the Agent with this statement:

“The possession of firearms by an NBA player in an NBA arena is a matter of the utmost concern to us. I initially thought it prudent to refrain from taking immediate action because of the pendency of a criminal investigation involving the office of the United States Attorney for the District of Columbia and the Metropolitan Police Department, and the consideration of this matter by a grand jury sitting in the District of Columbia. For the same reason, I directed the Wizards to refrain from taking any action.

“Wizards personnel continue to be interviewed by law enforcement authorities, some are scheduled for appearance before the grand jury and the investigation is proceeding with the intensity that one would expect for such a serious incident.

“Although it is clear that the actions of Mr. Arenas will ultimately result in a substantial suspension, and perhaps worse, his ongoing conduct has led me to conclude that he is not currently fit to take the court in an NBA game. Accordingly, I am suspending Mr. Arenas indefinitely, without pay, effective immediately pending the completion of the investigation by the NBA.”

Congrats Gilbert. You have the Fail of the Year already!

Bootlegers Beware: One Year For File Sharing(NEWS)

the_pirate_bay_logo.jpg

Man… WHAT?! For those that don’t know PirateBay was a website where you could find torrents for just about everything(music, movies, programs, games, etc.). If you know anything about torrents then you know that none of the files were hosted on the PirateBays server.. which makes me wonder how they could be charged.. either way.. griiiiimey!

Check the Article

A Stockholm court Friday found four men guilty of promoting copyright infringement by running The Pirate Bay, one of the world’s top websites for illegal filesharing, and sentenced them to a year in prison.

The court also ordered the four — Fredrik Neij, Gottfrid Svartholm, Peter Sunde and Carl Lundstroem — to pay damages of 30 million kronor (2.72 million euros, 3.56 million dollars).

“The Stockholm district court has today convicted the four people charged with promoting other people’s infringement of copyright laws,” it said in a statement.

Representatives of the movie, music and video games industry had sought some 117 million kronor (10.6 million euros, 13.9 million dollars) in damages and interest for losses incurred from tens of millions of illegal downloads facilitated by the site.

Founded in 2003, The Pirate Bay makes it possible to skirt copyright fees and share music, film and computer game files using bit torrent technology, or peer-to-peer links offered on the site.

None of the material can thus be found on The Pirate Bay server itself.

The four have denied any wrongdoing. In the days prior to the verdict they indicated they would appeal it if they were convicted.

The Pirate Bay claims to have some 22 million users worldwide.

The Home Depot aka The Hip Hop Depot

I was told that its not until your go through adversity that you find the treasures within. You never know how real it is until you have to make life altering decisions. Well the economic times is hitting all branches and Home Depot is another. This past week they cut 7000 jobs and closed down multiple specialty stores. Atlanta is safe since the flagship store is here but the need to step the hustle up is major. Well introducing the latest home accessory, Technics, can now be purchased at The Home Depot.  How about that one! Now you can become Bob Vila and Dj Handyman in the same day!

Once they get their vinyl and cd game up its on and popping.  The Hip Hop Depot! What! What! I’m gonna have to get me my membership and stop fooling around. I suggest you do the same.

 BANGA!

LMAO – Shoe Thrower Honored (NEWS)

Shoe Monument

The monument commemorating the journalist who hurled his shoes at President Bush was taken down a day after it was erected, local officials in Tikrit told CNN.

A huge sculpture of the footwear hurled at President Bush last year during a trip to Iraq has been unveiled at the Tikrit Orphanage complex during a Thursday ceremony.

Assisted by kids at the home, sculptor Laith al-Amiri erected a brown replica of one of the shoes hurled last month by journalist Muntadhir al-Zaidi during a press conference in Baghdad at Bush and Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki.

But officials from Salaheddin province told CNN that the monument was removed after a request from the central government, which has charges pending against al-Zaidi — now in an Iraqi jail.

After the request was made, Iraqi police visited the location to make sure that the shoe monument was removed.

“We will not allow anyone to use the government facilities and buildings for political motives,” said Abdullah Jabara, Salaheddin deputy governor.
