Derrick Rose Grabs The Top Spot in the 2008 NBA Draft

The 2008 NBA Draft brought a variety of fresh young talent coming from colleges all over the country. This year, the NBA drafted a record 12 freshmen. The Chicago Bulls were the team to choose first and they selected Chicago native Derrick Rose from Memphis. Rose averaged 14.9 points and 4.5 rebounds during his freshman season at Memphis. Chicago feels that they definetly have a franchise point guard that can take the Bulls to the next level.
O.J. Mayo of the University of Southern California (better know as USC) was selected third overall by the Minnesota Timberwolves. Mayo averaged 20.7 points and 4.5 rebounds per game during his only year at USC. At the end of Draft night, Mayo was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies in exchange for three players from Minnesota.
