I remember catching a VLOG from Jermaine Dupri about “When did consumers and pseudo industry types (Hey that’s me!) become so concerned with soundscan numbers?” It took me all of two seconds to respond “When dumb rappers started educating us on it” See I didn’t know anything scans, BDS, Media base, Arbitron or none of that till you idiots started rapping about it. I can’t even read half that stuff most of the time because it’s like reading calligrahy to me. Understand this though “Mr Rapper” when the labels started leaning on you to do numbers and you in turn let that reflect in your music. You no longer make it about the music being fresh or creative. You make it about your sales and as a result cats would rather download your music to make sure there are some certified bangers on there as opposed to purchasing your album with your one hit single on there and album fillers that disappoint and put cats to sleep!

Word money. Heads always want to play victim to something they’ve created. Before downloads start jumping off tough. I would ask a person “how such and such 2 bling 4 days album sound?” They would mention it was good because it had 4 hot cuts on the album which had 20 tracks, I’m thinking, huh? That’s not good. But these as you said Mr. Rapper want to throw 4 hot radio songs on it or joints that can be singles instead making a whole banger that heads will really say that’s worth my hard earn cheddar right there. Lil Wayne got as much download cream with his lastest album on itunes to match the store bought albums. So heads can’t complain about that. Just do your job Mr. Rapper cause at the end of that day that’s what it is. Your job.
Hell nah i don’t care about sound scan.. I never did. If an album is good.. I’m gonna support it and that’s it.
I really wonder how these rappers that are so-called ballin are going to be received by the people now that there is a recession/damn near depression in effect.
Why the hell should I give you my hard earned money to hear a whole album about how much more money you make than me? Kick rocks.. lol
