Hurriance Katrina 3 Year Anniversay – New Orleans Evacuates Again For New Storm!

Mayor Nagin of New Orleans has issued a mandatory evacuation order and warned that anyone deciding to stay behind would be making “the biggest mistake of their lives”. Sound familiar?

That’s not from Hurricane Katrina in 2005, that’s from Hurricane Gustav Yesterday. Yesterday Aug 30th was the 3 year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. Today Aug 31, thousands evacuate the New Orleans area again as Hurricane Gustav heads toward NOLA.

People are saying this storm is set to be as bad, if not worst that Hurrican Katrina was. Katrina had 130 mph winds. Gustav is predicted to have 150 mph winds which are sure to cause a surge in the levees.

Residents were warned that the city would NOT have emergency shelters, and that gathering areas such as the Superdome and bus terminal — scenes of chaos and violence after Katrina — are closed.

Are prayers are with everyone in the New Orleans area. I hope everyone makes it out safely. I’ve received a few phone calls from friends headed towards ATL. The storm is expected to hit land sometime Monday.

If I remember correctly this was the same way Katrina went down. I was just coming back from Miami for Labor Day Weekend and the storm hit the city on Monday morning as I recall.
