New Era Atlanta Flagship Store In Trouble?
Hey what’s going on people.
If you’ve been paying attention to the Blog, you know we were big supporters of New Era, and the Atlanta New Era Flagship Store. Since last year I’ve crowned myself the “New Era King of ATL.” Yeah I went there Lol. We also have been supporting the store since its grand opening last fall and have helped to drive traffic to the store threw some of the events we conducted with EA Sports as well as word of mouth. In return they were a big supporter of our one year anniversary and gave us a few giveaways for the site as well. All of things were executed threw the store manager not threw a corporate rep who is an outsider to the community.
Anyway earlier today I was talking to one of the big homies about what’s been going on at the Atlanta New Era Flagship Store. For that don’t know about a month or so ago I found out the manager since the stores opening was let go, along with another employee. Since that happen I’ve only been threw the store once.
The store itself has barely been open one year, and have been still trying to find their place in the community. I feel the staff at the store have been doing a great job interacting with the community, and doing what they can do the help build the brand in Atlanta since opening.
Then today I find out one of the last employees out the original staff was let go as well. For the past month the store has been trying to re-place the manager, for a while they even had the New York store manager out here working. As far as I know of today July 1st they still haven’t found anybody to fill the position.
Now heres my thing. By letting all the employees go who have built your name in the market in the past months is not a good look.
People were just start to get comfortable with the staff, learning more about who they were as people, and their position, etc. To fire these ambassadors makes the brand loose a lot of credibility in Atlanta.
These people have been let go and replaced (or have tried to be replaced) by not as friendly, not as warm/receptive employees.
Now I’m not only making this post from my point of few, but I speak for a lot of brothas in ATL right now when I say, you guys are in trouble. And until you get some people in the store (or bring the people back who you fired), your going to see the traffic slow down. Atlanta is the south things are very community oriented here (not only here, but a lot of places as well) and people like to have some sort of connection to the people their buying good and products from.
Without that, what’s to stop people from trooping down to Walters (shout out to Sean) or even too Lids, Hat Shack, Etc to buy their fitteds.
I made this post not to diss the brand, but just to shed some light on the situation.
Also on the other hand… I just went to pick up the new limited edition Konsole Kingz Fitted Hat. (Told ya’ll Im the Champ). Check out some pics of it below (Shout out to CJ). You probably wont be able to find one for yourself. So feel free to bask in the pictures! (just joking). Also check out the You Tube Video as well. New Era, your store is in trouble in Atlanta, and I’d hate to see it close and it get blammed on the city. We’ve seen that happen with other stores when they try to open a spot in the A. Let me know what you think…

In my opinion the New Era store was doomed from the get go, I think the person that was in charge of finding the location made a terrible choice in picking this stores address! Just about everyone I know is wearing a New Era these days and hardly any of them got it from this location, nor have most of them ever been to it. I also think the product offered can be better, why would someone go out of the way to buy a Braves cap, when you can purchase that at any of the 3 million hat stores or stores with hats in the city? Another note, I know a few people personally that went to apply for the new management position and were just shrugged off, these people are very qualified to run this spot and didn’t even get a chance to tell anybody? This store failing is not Atlanta’s fault.
I’m jealous of the at Konsole Kingz exclusive
Whuddupd Steve, Jamari, Corey, Ron?
hahahahahahahaha that jawn aiight……. you still got a ways to go to ketch me on the fitted game, whether New Era, Stahl and Dean or even vintage jawns……..you getting there, but u know me “I’ma rock niggas this summer, blue and cream drippin like it’s marble cake” style.
Your closet only open up in the Summer Time. My joint rocks year round. Only people seeing me is Dj Rob Wonder (Rob got some heat from back in the day) and Kim (Lavish Life) Her fitted game stays real crispy!!!
hey kaos my first time ever leaving in a comment on a blog, bare with me can’t say who i am but here i go. atl is a great place for what i have seen but do u now y the new era manager and assistant manager got let go cause if your going talk about it u are going to have to know all the facts. one there was over 10,000 dollars missing in drop deposits with no explanation even if it was no stealing which i know and hope there was not,u got to keep up your paper work so they were the first to go not cause the store was slow. two inventory that store is suppose to have 8000 units in there inventory came up 7000 was in the store, now if u do the math and only 1000 caps were missing that add up to wow 32,000 dollars in unit that is mia, thats if some caps were 32 dollars u know some are more once agin this could be bad paper work, just not paying attention,or stealing who knows.the employees who worked there were great the one u talked to was a good dude but whats a company who is new to retail to do.they got let go cause u can’t single one person u clean house every body who has worked retail nows that how it goes down with numbers like that.yes the company has made mistakes i tried to save the their jobs to fall on deaf ears, but when it all goes down it is business. new era retail is two years old can need to crawl before it walks they came to atl not just to make money they got money but to push and show the brand to everyone yeah we don’t got this and don’t got that but if we had everything would u still shop at the mom and pop stores ? who buy from new era and always got what u need.people lose their jobs everyday so your boy got fired from wendys u going to stop going to that wendys. and for the guy who said his friends went to be apply i myslef have looked at those resume can keep it real just cause u worked and manage a store or two make u the new era manager. plus look at what happen to them so u got to really come at them with all u got to get the job.not just yeah i will be a good fit to this job, u hire some one like that if so then good luck too u. whew never really messed with this blog thing i now i messed up on grammer spelling and other stuff but hey thats life im not perfect and neither is new era. they have come to terms in with the location they have picked but that mean their going to have to work harder on getting the name out there. kaos u got my email so holla if u want to know any thing. 1
So you saying 42K was missing?
If there was some stolen money, somebody should of bought an Iron and Ironing board for the store, cause everybody shirt used to be Wrinkled in that piece! Lol. Thanks for the comment.
If I had 42K right now, I could afford to actually fill up my gas tank
As far as the hats. Thats like going to the Crack house, and only being able to buy weed. In that case whats the point. The Fitted game is like the Crack Game!
All jokes aside, I hope everyone understood the point I was trying to make as far as from a community stand point. Stores like Standard and Walters have GREAT Staff, you know them, you have some sort of connection with them, and it makes you feel comfortable to spend your money there again and again. Somebody might want to re-look over those Resumes.
hey man u a 100% right me shopping in all the atl store every one is cool a big culture shock from were i’m from but we just have to see mistake have been made on both sides, and new era will try to do the right thing. one more thing kaos i think my cap collection could give u a run for your money. just joking but i got heat
hahahaaha………..I only need three months to shut you down for the whole year……………..unless you been up on it since the early 90′s on the east coast Philly,Jersey AND NY….you and Robbie both get a late pass and need to ketch up……………….I still aint showing you where I got my vintage Phillys jawn from the world series that you asked me about 2 years ago (LOL)
whats going down is just another example of the southern hospitality getting replaced by out of town hostility…i never really cared for the store myself…i cop from Walters and {nope, not telling you my other stash spot} to get my goods. but, the cats tht i did meet there were cool as a fan, i used to want to buy stuff off that alone.
